Welcome to Silver Summit

Nestled just a short 10-minute drive west from the hustle and bustle of downtown Park City is the expansive rural community of Silver Summit. Here, distant views of magnificent mountain formations encompass the vast and expansive local terrain, which is dotted with standalone family homes, old ranches, and plenty of horses.

Despite being so close in proximity to one of Utah’s largest cities, Silver Summit still retains its charming small-town feel, one that perfectly balances the humble rural lifestyles of local ranchers with those who live in exclusive high-end estates set against Silver Summit’s glorious mountain ranges.

Silver Summit Real Estate

Silver Summit’s local terrain is broad and diverse, which means you’ll find a wide range of housing types here from expensive luxury homes set against prestigious golf courses to heritage-driven ranches and ranchettes.

Somewhere in between are the many new construction suburban-style housing developments, which have started popping up more frequently in the area. Not only do these newer homes offer modern comforts to their owners, but almost all of them take full advantage of the scenic landscape by offering quick access to the area’s most appealing natural amenity, the mountains and their trails.

The Locals

Just like most smaller communities in the Park City area, many of the homes in Silver Summit belong to part-time residents who own second or holiday homes here. However, full-time residents still make up the large majority of the local population, who tend to have deep roots in the community. One commonality between everyone with a property here is their great love and appreciation for Silver Summit’s relaxed, outdoor-oriented lifestyle.

Our Local Tip: There’s no better way to take in the awe-inspiring views of Summit County’s spectacular mountain ranges, rolling agricultural terrain, and charming residential sidestreets than along the Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail. Hike, bike, or ride on horseback along this 28-mile trail and revel in the best vistas Silver Summit has to offer.

Parks & Nature

As far as the local trail systems go, it’s hard to do better than the Round Valley trail. Containing 56-miles of rolling desert trails, it’s a fantastic place for beginner to intermediate-level hikers, bikers, snowshoers and more to explore some of Silver Summit’s most stunning terrain year-round.

Or, head over to Trailside Park, a 63-acre community park filled to the brim with fun recreational amenities and facilities. You’ll find everything here from basketball courts, fenced-in tennis and pickleball courts, a skateboard park, a bike park, two expansive playing fields, two playgrounds, three open pavilions, a disc golf course, and many off-leash dog park areas. There genuinely is something at Trailside Park for everyone.

Arts & Culture

Away from Silver Summit’s widespread cultural devotion to the mountainside outdoor-oriented lifestyle, many locals are also devoted to the Mountain Life Church, a true community mainstay and popular meeting and event space in the Silver Summit area. This is a common gathering area for locals for both religious and local events and is a very active symbol in the community.

Silver Summit locals also enjoy showcasing their spirit and individuality at Dance Tech, an esteemed and popular dance studio. Here, top-class dance instructors run a series of dance programs across a variety of different dance genres, ranging in skill levels from recreational to pre-professional.

Schools

The community of Silver Summit falls within the well-regarded Park City School District and is home to several fine public to private educational institutions.

Among the most popular is Trailside Elementary School, which is a heavily family-oriented school that is very active in the Silver Summit community. And, with amenities like a designated bike park close by, it’s very popular among many elementary-aged students too.

Alternatively, Little Miners Montessori offers a peaceful, interaction-based early education program to about 130 Silver Summit-area students from the ages of 18 months to 9 years old.

Heading into secondary school, the obvious choice is Silver Summit Academy, which welcomes students from Grades 6 through to 12.

Shopping

In terms of local shopping outlets, most of the big box stores and individual retail destinations are located within the neighboring Park City or Kimball Junction areas, both of which are only a few minutes’ drive away from central Silver Summit.

However, there are some light industrial-style shops in main Silver Summit too. Things like feed stores, paint stores, storage facilities, home depots, and business parks are among the most common commercial outlets you’ll come across in Silver Summit.

Dining

As far as the local food culture goes, essentially all of the restaurants that service Silver Summit are located about 10 minutes away from the community’s core. That being said, there are several local cafes within the Silver Summit area that are seemingly always busy with local clientele.

It’s rare to find places like Silver Summit Cafe or Clockwork Cafe without loyal Silver Summit guests enjoying a reliable cup of Joe and a freshly-made light meal inside. In addition, LuAnn’s Cupcakes is also a legendary bakery and shop within central Silver Summit too, offering a wide variety of cupcakes to anyone celebrating a special occasion or in need of a little pick-me-up.

Getting Around

For the most part, the best way to get around Silver Summit and the surrounding area is by car, especially seeing as there’s quite a bit of snow on the ground for much of the year.

That said, the extensive and complex collection of bike trails that interweave throughout the Silver Summit and Park City area are another very popular method of transportation for local residents (when the weather permits, of course).

If you don’t have a car or a bike, Park City Transit also services certain areas within Silver Summit with public bus routes too.
